Acknowledgements

I'd like to acknowledge and highlight some sources of information about Grasse  which I find particularly useful.

  • The many publications, electronic and otherwise, of Gabriel Benalloul, about the perfume industry in Grasse.  Very few towns have as dedicated and knowledgeable a historian and industrial archeologist as he.  See, for example, two very attractive books (in French), Grasse L'usine a parfums (Lieux-Dits 2023) and La magie d'un terroir (written with André Raspati).

  • Emile Litschgy's three volumes of the history of and stories about Grasse, published by TAC, 1999, 2000 and 2002.

  • The tourist office of the town, and especially their very informative guides.  Unfortunately for anglophones, they all guide in French, although some speak English.

  • The remarkable collection of photographs  compiled by Andre Raspati , who also collaborates with Gabriel Benalloul, at grasse-vintage.over-blog.com

  • The intensive research carried out in 2018 by Dominique Segura on the perfume industry in Grasse, to be found at issuu.com/dominiquesegura/docs/dsegura_finalprojectreport.

  • Robert Verlaque's excellent history of the town: Grasse, Mille Ans d'Histoires

  • Grasse's Maison du Patrimoine, a small but very interesting facility, in what itself was once a perfume factory, which explains some of the history of Grasse

But let me be clear that any mistakes or misattributions are purely my fault, and I 'd be grateful if you can let me know about them.
